Kitco News’ latest weekly gold survey showed industry experts expecting a big rally, while some retail traders said gold would remain strong. Adam Button, head of currency strategy at Forexlive.com, said gold is set to continue its rally. What’s notable is the dollar’s rally following the U.S. jobs report that rose and then quickly retreated, suggesting a quick turnaround. That’s in line with the ongoing dollar sell-off that has dominated the first half of the year. As that trend continues and expands, gold will benefit. Rich Checkan, president and COO of Asset Strategies International, said the $4 trillion tax bill added to the U.S. debt over the past 10 years, on top of the already expected $2 trillion a year. That’s a debt that will grow to more than $50 trillion by 2035, not including Social Security. Meanwhile, 243 votes were cast in Kitco’s online poll, with Main Street leading the way in most of last week’s narrow gains. 143 retail traders, or 59%, looked for gold prices to rise next week, while 49, or 20%, expected the yellow metal to fall lower. The remaining 51 investors, or 21%, saw prices staying in a stable trend in the week ahead.
