The latest Kitco News Gold Weekly Survey showed that industry experts were evenly split on whether gold is bullish or bearish. Marc Chandler, managing director at Bannockburn Global Forex, said U.S. tariffs appear to have helped the yellow metal recover. However, it is unclear whether the consolidation trend will continue beyond the $3,500 an ounce high, and gold will see a similar pattern in 2020, with a decline. Adam Button, chief currency strategist at Forexlive.com, sees gold as having become less volatile since the passage of the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ last week. Of the 15 analysts surveyed by Kitco News Gold this week, all but one Wall Street expert said they were bullish on gold, with all but one Wall Street expert saying they were bullish on gold. Even though 47% of experts now expect gold prices to rise this week, while only one analyst expects gold to fall this week, the remaining 7 analysts, or 47%, see gold trading sideways this week. Meanwhile, 231 votes were cast in the Kitco online poll, with Main Street’s narrow gain finally fading into doubt. 104 retail traders, or 45%, see gold rising this week, while 63, or 27%, expect the yellow metal to lose value. The remaining 64 investors, or 28%, see prices continuing to consolidate during the week.
